According to Canada Statistics, “the population reached 40,528,396 on October 1, 2023. In the third quarter of 2023, the vast majority (96.0%) of the population growth was due to international migration. The rest of this gain (4.0%) was the result of a natural increase. International migration continues to be the main source of Canada’s population growth. From July 1 to October 1, 2023, the country saw the number of non-permanent residents continue to increase; the total non-permanent resident population increased from 2,198,679 to 2,511,437. This represents a net increase of 312,758 non-permanent residents in the third quarter, which is the greatest quarterly increase going back to 1971 (when data on non-permanent residents became available). The gain in non-permanent residents was mostly due to an increase in the number of work and study permit holders and, to a lesser extent, an increase in the number of refugee claimants”.
The wealth of a country is not measured exclusively by its economy. Canada’s natural wealth offers individuals and investors a high-quality life, excellent environmental conditions, access to potable water, fertile soil, and clean air. The surface of Canada is 4,984,670 km2 or 3,855,100 sq miles, with only 4.2 persons occupying one square kilometer on average. These characteristics may contribute to Canadian’s life expectancy, which increased by 4.01 years from 2000, from 79.1 years old to 83.11 years old in 2023.
During these turbulent recent years and for the future, safety is another criterion gaining weight on the scale with investors when investing abroad. Canada is surrounded by a natural frontier that many envy: on the West coast by the Pacific Ocean, on the East coast by the Atlantic Ocean and on the North coast by the Arctic Sea, the Beaufort Sea, and Baffin Bay. Needless to say, when someone comes to visit Canada, we know in advance how to prepare for everyone!
To invest abroad, political stability and a robust financial system are two aspects of a country that are crucial when selecting a haven for investments. The Canadian economy rests on a primary sector that consists of petroleum, electricity, mining, forestry and fishing, with a financial sector that consists of a central bank, regional banks and the stock exchange. “Canada ranks ninth in the world in terms of political stability, according to the World Bank’s Governance Indicators (2021). Canada functions with strong democratic traditions, and the two dominant political parties are the Liberal Party and the Conservative Party. However, parties like the New Democrat Party, the Quebec Nationalist bloc Quebecois and the Green Party of Canada have grown in prominence” (source: Wikipedia). Canada is a member of G20 and G7 as per the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report of 2019, which rated Canada’s banking system as one of the soundest in the world; Canada’s banks remained resilient even during the 2008 financial crisis.
